We've gotten some great suggestions in the children's suggestion bucket over the past few weeks! Here they are, along with our responses:
Get the book: Run like a fudgetive. I'm assuming you mean "Run like a fugitive". I wasn't able to find this title anywhere - there's a book in a series called "Maddie's Magic Markers" by this title, but it's out of print. More information, please!
Get more words for your magnet board, be more creative. Dana, I don't think we have space for more magnet words, but I'll put it on the teen area wishlist. We'll be having several teen creative programs in the winter/spring, keep an eye on the library calendar and bulletin board upstairs! You might also like to check out Lake Geneva public library, they have a teen program called "Express Yourself" for writing, poetry, and I think art.
More Goosebumps movies. Coming up! I just ordered a stack for Halloween!
Get Ben 10 movies. Coming up! I just ordered season 1!
More Star Wars movies. Coming up! I just ordered another season of the Clone Wars!
I wish you had Ramona and Beezus the movie. Coming up! I just ordered it! You might want to go ahead and put a hold on it, since lots of people will be waiting to see it.
2010 Guiness Book of World Records. We do own this, unfortunately it is being repaired. Ask a librarian to help you request a copy from another library!
A lot of greek god kind of books. Have you seen the new mythology books in our juvenile comics section? We have Zeus and Athena, both by George O'Connor.
A lot of vampire books! Check out our paranormal romance reading list upstairs in the teen area or ask a librarian for suggestions - we have lots of vampire books and can get you even more from other libraries!

Suggestion Bucket
You suggest, we respond!
- Atlantis: Milo's Return We did own this at one point - I think it was stolen or broken. We'll replace it. Sometime.
- You should get Star Wars games and other games. I'm assuming you mean Wii etc. games. We hope to have a gaming collection someday, but right now there's no budget, security, or place for it. Someday!
- I can't stop hiccuping and other stories, Charlie and Lola, movie. We have all the Charlie and Lola movies, but I don't remember this story being on any of them. We're getting the book soon!
- Skippyjon Jones series. We own several Skippyjon Jones books - I'll see if we can add the last two we haven't got.
- Love comes softly dvds. I've passed this on to the librarian who orders movies for teens and adults.

Suggestion Bucket
Geronimo Stilton comics. We do have four Geronimo Stilton comics - they're very popular and you might need to put a hold on them! I'll be adding more when they're available - there should be a new one in September and another new one in October!
More new movies for kids. New movies are coming! I've just ordered some and they'll be available soon - new Batman movies, replacements for some Disney and Dr. Seuss favorites, Penguins of Madagascar, and more!
I suggest more Anne Frank books. I got a new biography of Anne Frank recently, we're also ordering the new Anne Frank graphic novel this fall. New materials on Anne Frank will be showing up in the adult nonfiction soon as well!
Reading contest. Unfortunately, we don't have enough staff and money to run the summer reading program all year long! We will be having programs with crafts and books in the fall, such as Make it and Take it, where you can come make crafts and talk about books with your friends!
Diary of a wimpy kid: the last straw. We own 3 copies each of the Diary of a wimpy kid books, but they're very popular! Ask a librarian to help you put a hold on the book so you can have a turn reading it! Or you can try some of our Wimpy Kid read-alikes in the white binder above the series shelf!
Stand tall, Molly Lou Melon. I've added this to our picturebook list - have to see how the budget looks though...
I suggest getting more Lanie American Girl books. There's only two - Lanie and Lanie's Real Adventures. We have both - I'll get more if they publish more in the series, but they usually only do two for American Girl of the Year. If you haven't read these two, ask a librarian to help you put a hold on them, so you can be next to read them! If you like Lanie, you might also like Julie Bowe's Friends for Keeps series.
I would suggest getting more Rainbow Magic books. More Rainbow Magic books are coming! We have some donated copies that will be added soon - look for new Rainbow Magic series in January...when I have new money in my series budget!
Charlie and Lola say cheese! I've added this to our picturebook list, but I don't know if I'll have money for a while...we'll see how the budget lines up!

Suggestion Bucket
- Nancy Holder [YA author] I've added a couple of her series to our wishlist - I'll have to see how the budget looks later this fall.
- Kidz Bop Yes, we will get some. When? I'm not sure.
- Renting video games We've discussed adding some video games to the new rental collection, but the cost of the games and theft issues....well, someday I hope to have a circulating gaming collection, but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Suggestion Bucket
- Ratchet and Clank Club. I'm not sure exactly what you meant by this Matthew - do you mean some kind of building club? We're hoping to have a Lego construction club and a sewing club this fall.
- Kidz Bop #18. Is this what you were asking for? I've added it to our order list, so we'll get it sometime, not sure when though...
- Adventures in Odyssey (audio series). We do have a couple of this series - I will make a note to get more! You might want to request some online - several libraries, including Racine, have a large collection.

More suggestions from the suggestion bucket!
- The Littles [by John Peterson] We do own quite a few of these - look in the series section under "Littles"
- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. It's on the list, Stephanie. We'll have to see how the budget goes. I have to replace a bunch of vhs first and I have to buy it separately from a cheaper source.
- Video game club. We might try this next summer Matthew. Meanwhile, you're welcome to bring your own games to share at the Wii for kids on Wednesday.
- Fruits Basket 3-10 (teen area). I'm working on the teen manga collection. I hadn't decided whether or not we should try to fill in the bits and pieces of longer series we have - I will definitely fill in Fruits Basket since you've asked for it!

Suggestion Bucket
- Taylor Swift CDs - We own both the Taylor Swift CDs, Taylor Swift and Fearless. They're located in the adult music under the country music.
- Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z - We are adding more of this series, however it's a lengthy series and too expensive to buy all at once! Please request from other libraries.
- Missing books in Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor - There are more books in this series up in the YA area. I've added the missing volumes to our series wishlist, so we'll probably get them sometime, but I'd suggest you request the volumes you want from another library - that will be much faster and there are plenty of copies in the system.
- More Spider-Man Books - I plan to get some more Spider-Man eventually, but it's not on the list in the near future. Ask at the desk and we can help you find more Spider-Man at other libraries and have them sent over!
- Care Bear Books - Sorry, but nope. Maybe someday if we start a paperback picturebook collection, but until then....we generally don't collect movie character tie-ins. They're usually only available in paperback or expensive bound editions and their popularity is unpredictable. There are tons available at other libraries, just search for Care Bears as a keyword and request!

Suggestion Bucket
We had some great suggestions over Spring Break!
Suggestion: Captain Underpants
We do actually own lots of Captain Underpants books! They are in the juvenile fiction (the shelves under Garfield). Dav Pilkey has a new book coming out this summer - The Adventures of Ook and Gluk!
Freddy Books
I'm guessing this is Freddy the Golden Hamster? I have ordered a replacement for the first Freddy book and I've ordered the fifth and final book. We own all the others! Or were you looking for Freddy the Pig? We do have a couple of those as well. They're all in the juvenile fiction (under Garfield)
A computer that doesn't need password/pin
Short answer: Sorry, not going to happen. We have limited resources and all patrons have to share the computers - that means keeping track of how much time everyone has used. That means logging in with library card number and pin. There are lots of other reasons, but this is the basic one.

Suggestion Bucket
Let's see what suggestions we have today...
Suggestion: Get more computers [rest of comment removed]
Asides from your inappropriate language, we agree! Unfortunately, like most libraries, we have to do the best we can with the technology we have. Ideally, of course, we'd like to replace all our outdated computers, get new ones to fill in the gaps, etc. Maybe you'd like to join the technology committee of the Library Board and give them some input or fundraising suggestions?
Suggestion: The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp
These were on my "wishlist to get when bags of money fall on my head" but I have moved them to the summer order list, so keep an eye on the shelves around May or June!
Suggestion: Hot Pepper Weenie
I am guessing you are thinking of David Lubar's Battle of the Red Hot Pepper Weenies and sequels. Great minds think alike! I have it on the order list for the summer!
Suggestion: Cul-De-Sac Kids by Beverly Lewis
We're not adding any new series right now, but I'll put this on the suggested list for the future. Meanwhile, you can request them from several other libraries in the system - or try some of the Christian-themed mysteries we have in our library, such as the Mandie collections by Lois Leppard, Adventures in the North Woods by Lois Johnson, or Sugar Creek Gang by Paul Hutchens. You might also like some of our other mysteries series, such as Ron Roy's various series (A to Z Mysteries, Capital Mysteries, Calendar Mysteries) Cam Jansen, Jigsaw Jones, or Encyclopedia Brown.

Suggestion Bucket
Suggestion: Get more 39 Clues books PLEASE
Ah, a desperate fan! You will be happy to know that...we are ordering TWO copies of book 8, Gordon Korman's Emperor Code which will be released in April. Just in time for the summer, we will be ordering second copies of ALL the 39 clues books and the last two (Viper's Nest and Emperor Code) on playaway. We have book 1 - 6 on playaway or cd.
Suggestion: More Reading Counts books, especially sports. I like Michael Jordan.
Do you have some specific titles? We plan to upgrade our sports section in 2011 (one nonfiction subject per year!). If you are looking for Reading Counts books, you can look in the old binder on top of the series, which has lists up to 2007, the small green binder, which has lists dating from last summer, or come to the desk and we can look up titles for you on the Reading Counts site.
Suggestion: Avalon Web of Magic series
I've added this to our wishlist of series, but we probably won't be able to get them for a while as I've used up most of my series budget. While you're waiting, you can request them from other libraries - it looks like the whole series is available to request!
Suggestion: Polka Dot Private Eye series by Giff
It looks like most of these are out of print - we don't usually start collecting a new series that has that many of the books out of print. We do have some of the Polk Street Kid series, you might like to check those out!
Suggestion: Put actual games in to check out
This suggestion was actually upstairs, but there's something screwy with our Facebook account where I usually post the teen suggestions. Anyways. If you are thinking of board games and card games, we don't circulate those for two reasons. First, the amount of time it would take to check all the individual pieces every time it was returned and bug people to find missing pieces and second, we want them available to be used in the library.
If you're talking about computer/Wii/Playstation games, I do hope to start a gaming collection for circulation someday! However, we first need an improved security system (hugely expensive) room to shelve them (new shelves, also hugely expensive) and money in the budget to purchase them (just doesn't exist right now). But it is something I hope to do someday!
Suggestion: Make a movie night like on Friday with popcorn and drinks for sale and the movie should be good (I think that says good?)
Well, here we run into budgeting again....a movie license is VERY expensive and we just didn't have the budget to renew it this year, especially as we didn't use it very much. Why didn't we use it? Well, staff are also expensive! and we didn't have someone available to supervise a regular movie night. We will be having a movie night at Halloween, as we did last year. You can also pop over to Lake Geneva, where they have regular movie nights for kids and teens!
Suggestion: Put crafts out all the time
We do have crayons and coloring pages available in the children's area. We have a lot of crafts in our programs - with each storytime and on Monday afternoons for older kids - so we don't have extra materials to put out. Plus, we don't really have a place to do that. We do plan to have some open craft times in the Storyroom in August.

Suggestion Bucket
Another new feature! I'll be responding to suggestions here - you can see all the past suggestions and responses under "Reading Lists and Other Resources" in the sidebar.
Suggestion: "all about fashion/how to design clothes for beginners"
We have several great resources on this subject! Check out two cool books in the teen nonfiction section, Passion for Fashion: Careers in Style by Jeanne Beker and The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion. You might also want to look at Kiki Magazine in the children's magazines. It's focused on fashion with writing, movies, and other girl-focused stuff as well. For more books specifically on sewing, look under 646.2 in the juvenile and adult nonfiction.
Suggestion: "all about gymnastics"
We have a few books on gymnastics under 796.44 in the juvenile and adult nonfiction. Ask a librarian to help you request more and newer books from other libraries! I'm hoping to update our sports section next year and gymnastics is on the list of topics!
Suggestion: "a book about math history"
Ask a librarian for help or search for the subject "mathematics--history" to find books on this topic.
